Mesut Ozil to be offered new deal

However, the last few years have seen Gibbs and Monreal fight for the position, but it seems that the Spain global has well and truly won the battle to secure his place in the team.

Last week, Ozil’s agent surprisingly linked his client with a summer move to Fenerbahce. claimed that the Super Lig club were willing to make a “serious” offer for the playmaker’s services and appeal to his Turkish heritage.

The paper reports that Mesut Ozil is already the highest earner on £140,000-per-week but will be offered a pay rise to stay.

Has Ozil lived up to his £42.4 million transfer fee at Arsenal?

The 26-year-old Ozil is of Turkish descent and has admitted previously he would one day like to turn out for Fenerbahce, per Turkish newspaper Sabah (h/t Mark Critchley in the Independent): “In the future I want to wear a Fenerbahce shirt”. However, the main thing is he wants Arsenal.

The Arsenal club-record signing has made two assists in the Premier League this season. However, it is very hard to predict in advance that decision.

There were rumours during the summer window that the defender was possibly on his way out of the Emirates with La Liga side Athletic Bilbao coming close to agreeing a transfer, according to talkSPORT. It would be an honour.

But according to The Mirror, Arsene Wenger and co are working hard to extend Ozil’s contract which is now set to run out in 2018.
