There is ice and snow on many roads across the country as snow warnings remain in place for parts of the midlands and west.

Temperatures are set to plummet below freezing in Ulster, Munster and Connacht later.

A NUMBER of accidents occurred on Mayo roads this morning as a result of the icy conditions.

“And in the North it’ll probably be extended further into the afternoon too, because the showers will continue there”.

A status yellow snow-ice warning is now in effect for Longford, Cavan, Monaghan, Galway and Roscommon where snow accumulations of two to four centimetres are expected.

Dublin seems to have escaped pretty much all of it, but Met Eireann says – where it has – snow has stopped falling.

She said: “The showers are going to get heavy, possibly merging into longer spells of sleet and snow over the course of tonight and early morning”.

Is it snowing where you are? .

Temperatures will reach 4 – 6 degrees, but Met Éireann warns us they will feel colder “due to wind chill from blustery northwesterly winds”.

Fresh warning to motorists ahead of more sub-zero temperatures
