The cascading silver beads and sequins of her custom Balmain dress were handsome, and swished as she walked (that’ll be where the scratches came from then).
Everyone was waiting to see whether Beyonce would bring husband-in-the-doghouse Jay-Z with her to the Met Gala after the release of Lemonade last week, especially since the 2014 Met Gala was the scene of the Solange vs Jay-Z elevator fight seen around the world. Some took the theme from head-to-toe with an all-silver accent or just on the sides of their dresses.
Met Gala chairwoman, Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, had the final say over the guest list of around 600 people and arrived at the gala with her daughter Bee Shaffer, both donned Chanel floorlength dresses.
Kate Hudson’s awesome shard-like gown showed off her wow figure and nailed the techy theme.
Which looks did love on this year’s Met Gala red carpet?
Poppy Delevingne wore low-cut silver tiered spangles and jewels on a Marchesa gown, her platinum hair hanging loose, while Rita Ora also wore silver in a Vera Wang gown.
Idris Elba and Taylor Swift were among the co-hosts at the glamorous event, with the British actor taking some time to offer sartorial advice for men getting ready for a big night out.
But at the 2014 Met Gala Swift’s darling look was a match with her dress’s feminine design. “Make sure your shirt’s down and the whites of the cuffs are out”.
Gomez didn’t reveal what she plans to wear, but she did say that it was “beautiful” and “so cool”, which sort of narrows things down. you can nearly picture it, right?
She was joined by her older sister Kendall, who was showing off plenty of flesh in a cut-out Versace gown which she teamed with white heels and a sleek ponytail.
Zayn Malik walked the carpet with Gigi Hadid in a suit tricked out with Knights of the Round Table metal arms.
Lupita Nyong’O enhanced her beauty with a sequined jade dress by Calvin Klein Collection and a hair that was fashioned like Audrey Hepburn’s.
Ivanka Trump, meanwhile, chose a red Ralph Lauren jumpsuit-dress combination. His one-word explanation to E! for his look: “Vibes”.
