Met Gala: Inside the Hottest Night in Fashion

A lot of people imagine Oscars as the biggest fashion night, but it’s the Met Gala that brings out the most incredible looks from celebs.

Whereas many celebrities on the red carpet were eager to provide detailed explanations about the look they had chosen for the evening, some stars preferred to be more direct.

Her ensemble undoubtedly fits with this year’s theme, which is “Manux X Machina: Trend in a Age of Technology”, emphasizing the difference between handcrafted haute couture and machinemade trend.

Complicated, heavily embellished dresses are best set off with simple, sleek updos: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Karlie Kloss both paired their white gowns with a slicked-back chignon, while a sporty high ponytail also proved an unexpected red carpet victor, worn by the likes of Kendall Jenner, Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez and Hailee Baldwin.

Fox News host Megyn Kelly made her first trip to the Met Gala where she told IE about her recent private meeting with Donald Trump. Inspired by the relationship between fashion and technology over the course of fashion history, the show did not have as much of as a cohesive identity as last year’s somewhat-controversial Chinese-themed gala for “China: Through The Looking Glass”.

Lorde posted a pic of her plaster on Instagram with the caption “if u ever wanna know who was at the 2016 met gala they’re all on my arm”.

Continuing the snack theme of the night, Taylor Swift’s metallic Louis Vuitton dress was compared to a Hershey’s Kiss. “It was interesting because her dress was made of organza and fiber optics”, Ostroff said.

“So we’ll see, it’s out November but I loved it. I got a wand which is something I got to tick off the bucket list – it was a blast”, he added.

Every attendee was carefully selected by Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, and it is believed that tickets were sold for £20,500 – or £188,000 to splash out on a table.
