Met office issue yellow warning of rain and wind for Milton Keynes

Will you be as smug as this about rain? “The forecast is for sun tomorrow – but come rain or shine it’s going to be a great weekend here in North Devon”. It’s going to bloody pour.

“The rain will likely linger across south-east England and east Anglia overnight where winds will also strengthen too”. Great. “The forecast looks good for tomorrow and we’re expecting everything to be fine”.

More than 20mm of rain is “expected quite widely”, with a lower likelihood of 60mm of rainfall and 40mph inland winds.

Rain and gale force winds are set to batter Oxfordshire today, prompting the Met Office to issue a severe weather warning.

MeteoGroup weather forecaster Billy Payne said it was unusual to see such significant rainfall in 24 hours.

“Heavy rain will push into south-west England and south Wales on Thursday night before slowly edging eastwards across the rest of southern England through the day on Friday”.

A wet day for many with outbreaks of rain moving east. The rain could turn heavy at times, particularly across southern areas.

The forecaster said temperatures on Friday would not get much higher than 17C or 18C. Northerly winds could gust to 40-50mph here, perhaps hitting 55mph around the coast. Staying windy and unsettled through Monday and Tuesday with a mixture of sunny spells and showers.

But, the downpour and easterly winds are expected to make a reappearance come Sunday morning.
