The rain is due to a slack area of low pressure moving slowly across southern Britain today, bringing unstable air and the potential for thundery showers.
They have issued a sever weather alert, warning of the possibility of localised flooding and disruption to transport.
“No areas will be immune from those showers”.
Cheshire West and Chester is set to be battered by a band of heavy rain from Tuesday afternoon.
While the weather warning is in place there is relief that Hurricane Joaquin has changed course away from the UK.
The Met Office, meanwhile, suggest tonight will see outbreaks of heavy showers across the region – but it will become lighter as the night progresses.
She warned drivers to take “extra time for your journeys this evening”.
