British counterterrorism officers have been working with Tunisian authorities to investigate the attacks and on Wednesday said the two were “officially” connected.

Some 30 Britons were among the 38 tourists killed on the beach at Sousse by gunman Seifeddine Rezgui in June.
The Metropolitan police say that they have found “strong” links between the recent beach massacre in Tunisia and an earlier attack in the country.
Metropolitan Police Commander Richard Walton said the connection with the beach attack in the resort of Sousse was based upon “strong” evidence but did not provide further details.
Tunisian authorities have arrested 150 people to date over the Sousse attack.
As many as 3,000 Tunisians are feared to have gone to Iraq, Syria and Libya to jto fight with militant groups, raising fears of returning jihadis plotting attacks on home soil.
Of those, 15 have been charged with terrorism offences. One of the victims was a British woman.
Some 370 items of photographic evidence are also being examined by detectives.
They have carried out operations across the country to disrupt terrorist activity and identify suspects, he said.

A trial in relation to the murders is not expected to take place for up to 18 months.
