Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain saw its release in early September past year. This is up 1 million from the 5 million shipment figure that Konami announced back in October 2015.
In the last nine months ended Dec. 31, overall sales for the digital entertainment division was 93.4 billion yen for the nine months ending December 31, 2015, up from 67.9 billion yen the year prior. The figure helped lead a 37.5% increase in revenue for Konami’s digital entertainment segment. The next closest was Gaming & Systems (note that this means slot machines), which rose 4.8 percent.
Combined with its pachinko and Health and Fitness divisions, Konami made a total of ¥179.3bn, which was 15% up on a year ago, with its video games generating the most revenue.
In light of its upturn in fortunes, the publisher has adjusted its finanacial expectations upward, and now expects to end the year with 243 billion yen ($2 billion) in revenue and 24 billon yen ($198 million) in operating profit.
