Meteor streaks across the sky from Las Vegas to Ventura, CA
Krupp said several eyewitnesses called the observatory about seeing a “bright streak of light across the sky”. There was a similar light in the sky last month.

There were multiple reports that the light was also seen over Las Vegas.
A colonel with the U.S. Strategic Command later confirmed to NBC News that it was some kind of “Russian space debris”. Some video from across social media appears shows multiple parts of the object falling apart.
“Fireballs occur when small – basketball-sized or Volkswagen-sized – asteroids enter the Earth’s atmosphere and disintegrate from the atmospheric friction”, Yeomans said in an email. Various areas across both Las Vegas and California cities reported seeing the fireball, from Bakersfield to Laughlin and Sacramento and beyond.
What caused the light remains unclear, but there have been no reports from the military or civilian aviation of anything unusual happening.
CNN debunked the UFO theories when they reported that it was actually the Navy test-firing a missile, but that didn’t stop UFO enthusiasts from wondering if a missile was really the source of the light.
