One person is in hospital and three others were arrested after they jumped from a moving GO train early Monday.

It happened as the Oshawa-bound train approached Danforth Station around 11:30 p.m. The act triggered a safety system that halts the train’s acceleration.

Metrolinx originally said that the group had pried open the doors and then jumped out and that three of them were arrested.

There have been no details on potential charges the four may face.

“It’s an incredibly stupid thing to do”, Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins told CBC News.

One male who fled the scene was located by police a short while later and was transported to the hospital in serious but non-life threatening condition.

Witnesses had initially reported seeing four people jump off.

The Lakeshore East trains had stopped service for the investigation but have since resumed.
