Metro says service on the blue, orange and silver lines was restored Monday afternoon and the Stadium-Armory station in Washington was reopened.
Riders on Metro’s Green Line should expect delays Tuesday. There have been no reported injuries related to the fire. The source of the smoke was determined to be a fire involving one of the substation’s three AC/DC transformers, WMATA officials said in a press release.
Metro crews on the site are directing power from two adjacent substations at Potomac Avenue and Deanwood, Tolbert said. Once the reconfiguration is completed this evening, train service will be restored.
It’s the day that Pope Francis arrives in D.C. and Metro is experiencing delays. Buses are replacing trains between Minnesota Avenue and Eastern Market, making all intermediate station stops.
Orange line service is suspended between Eastern Market and Minnesota Avenue and silver line service is suspended between Eastern Market and Benning Road.
