Mets fan critically injured after fight with Dodgers fans

Police said surveillance videos might provide a better description of the attackers, but Chief Charlie Beck confirmed Tuesday that police are looking for a mother and son in connection with the attack.

“We believe it is a son and a mother who are responsible for this assault”, Beck said. Meanwhile, Dodger Stadium’s reputation as a risky place for opposing fans grows once again. The fight reportedly occurred at 10:30 p.m. and was preceded by a verbal argument between fans. The perpetrator is still at large, but the police say only that he was a tall man with blond hair. They said the man was punched and then fell, striking his head.

The incident recalls the case of Brian Stow, a San Francisco Giants fan who was attacked at Dodger Stadium following a game in 2011.

The victim, whose name has not been released, is being treated at Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center and remains in “serious, but stable condition”. “Particularly for championship games or key rivalries, we deploy a significant amount of officers”. The beating focused attention on stadium security and led to a $14 million jury verdict against the Dodgers.

However, witnesses told the Los Angeles ABC affiliate that the fight took place between Dodgers and Mets fans and that the injured party was a Mets fan. “But it’s a big facility, and you can’t be everywhere all the time”. Stow sued the Dodgers and their former owner Frank McCourt, blaming them for the attack because of insufficient security and lighting.
