Mets GM Alderson jokes after collapsing

Collins has noted he has become more of a player-friendly manager with the Mets than during his tenures with the Astros and Angels two decades ago. But a manager who has handled the big market in New York while making sure his players come first is certainly a bonus. Collins already has been voted by his peers as the NL Manager of the Year in a poll by the Sporting News.

That doesn’t mean the Mets won’t be once again looking to upgrade at shortstop this off-season, but mostly Alderson seemed to be saying that defense can be magnified in the World Series, and you can’t get there by trying to win 2-1 every night. “The first part of the season, we had high expectations”. The Mets began 2015 budgeted for approximately $103 million.

That leaves Alderson a few wiggle room to fill several holes in the Mets’ lineup, but not much.

During Wednesday’s press conference to discuss Collins’s new contract, Alderson appeared to faint and had to be helped by media members. “Those contracts often don’t work out”. 640 on-base plus slugging percentage. 942 after arriving in a July 31 trade with the Detroit Tigers. But he struggled in the postseason, going 12-for-54 at the plate. “It’s a long road, and when you do get to the World Series and get that close, I think it hurts a little more knowing how close you got and didn’t get there”. “From our standpoint, that was a price well-paid”.

The Mets beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in the deciding Game 5 of the Division Series and swept the Chicago Cubs in the NL Championship Series. The Mets will go all the way until Friday’s 5 p.m. deadline to decide whether to make Daniel Murphy a qualifying offer and it’s not a simple decision. The Mets have not won Major League Baseball’s best-of-seven final since 1986.

“Our starting pitching is second to none”. He also moved Michael Cuddyer, a 15-year veteran, to the bench.

The starting pitcher will enter free agency after two solid seasons in the Mets’ rotation.

Truth be told, it was a question about Juan Lagares’ balky elbow that coincided with the GM feeling woozy.

Others on the scene added that Alderson remained on the ground for several seconds before awaking on his own and offering to answer more questions, although there were none.
