Mets’ Jenrry Mejia suspended for second time this season
Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that the Mets’ reliever had been suspended for 162 games without pay for failing another drug test. But, it would be hard to imagine he would even have a chance to pitch in the postseason next year, as the New York Mets should cut ties with Mejia as soon as possible.

Mejia was suspended April 11 following a positive test for Stanozolol and said in a statement then “I can honestly say I have no idea how a banned substance ended up in my system”.
A short-handed bullpen could hinder the Mets’ late-season playoff push, but there’s still time left before the July 31 trade deadline for the Mets to make another move that bolsters their depth.
Although he only has appeared in seven games this season due to the suspension and an injury that forced him on the disabled list, the club was relying on Mejia to help them down the stretch, especially after his 2014 season in which he saved 28 games for the club.
Moving forward, it will be interesting to see how the Mets handle this situation. This time, he tested for that drug again, and also Boldenone.

Just three weeks after being reinstated from an 80-game suspension for PED use, Mejia has received a second ban from Major League Baseball, this one of the full-season variety. “We fully support MLB’s policy towards eliminating performance enhancing substances from the sport”.
