New York Mets manager Terry Collins was taken to a Milwaukee-area hospital for tests after falling ill before his team’s game against the Brewers, the team announced.

ESPN.com’s Adam Rubin reported Collins was “alert”, according to Mets assistant general manager John Ricco.

“Mets manager Terry Collins was seen by Dr. Brian-Fred Fitzsimmons at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee after checking into the hospital on Sunday”. “I’m sure that we’ll move on, but, first and foremost, all our concerns are with Terry right now”. He also said that Collins was feeling better before leaving for the hospital. Chicago Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta says he wants to compete in the All-Star Home Run Derby, too.

First-year bench coach Dick Scott, who managed in Collins’ place Sunday, informed Mets players of the situation approximately 30 minutes before first pitch.

After working out of a bases-loaded, one-out situation in the first, Davies settled in nicely. Earlier, in the third frame, Aaron Hill was ruled out at home for sliding over – and not actually touching – the plate, costing the Brewers a run. Puig has been working in the batting cage on “shortening his stroke”, manager Dave Roberts said.

Curtis Granderson and Yoenis Cespedes knocked in runs in the eighth to pull the Mets within two. Matz (L, 7-3) allowed five runs (four earned) in six innings while striking out 5. C Travis d’Arnaud (right shoulder) caught seven innings during a rehab stint on Saturday night at Single-A St. Lucie, and Collins said d’Arnaud might be about a week away from returning.

Will the Mets leave Milwaukee with a victory on Sunday at 2:10PM ET and a series win against the Brewers? To clear room for Garza on the active roster, Milwaukee optioned struggling RHP Wily Peralta to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Chase Anderson (4-6) will face the Giants’ Albert Suarez (1-1).

Collins is reportedly feeling fine after remaining in the hospital overnight for observation, but it is unclear if he will be able to manage the Mets on Tuesday.
