Corey Seager crushed a Syndergaard slider in the bottom half of the inning that temporarily tied the game at 1-1.

The Mets will be sending Noah Syndergaard to the mound, AKA Thor. But if doesn’t get the bunt down he might as well hit a homer …

Arizona’s Micah Owings on August 18, 2007, was the last pitcher with a two-homer game.

Syndergaard becomes the second pitcher in Mets history with two home runs in a game.

Syndergaard hit a solo homer in his first plate appearance, then hit a three-run shot his next trip to the plate against Los Angeles Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda and the Mets went on to a 4-3 win on Wednesday. He twice tossed six scoreless innings while filling in for Jacob deGrom earlier this season.

He believed he had a picturesque delivery, but Mets pitching Dan Warthen quickly showed him he was “doing nearly everything wrong” and how to be more efficient. After Carl Crawford’s two-out single in the fourth inning, the next 11 Dodgers went down in order before Seager dropped a soft single into center field with one out in the eighth.

Even with the home runs allowed, Syndergaard had a fine night on the mound, which included six strikeouts and a walk in eight innings for this third win of the year.

The Japanese rookie is just the second Dodgers pitcher to allow multiple home runs in a single game to pitchers, according to StatsPass.

“I don’t think I ever hit two home runs when I played little league”, Syndergaard said.

Matz, 5-1 with a 2.86 ERA this season, has been the Mets’ best pitcher after a shaky 2016 debut in which he gave up seven runs in 1 2/3 innings.

Syndergaard had been 0 for 8 this season.

Los Angeles Dodgers’ Yasmani Grandal celebrates after a home run against the New York Mets during the fourth inning of a baseball game in Los Angeles, Wednesday, May 11, 2016.

“He was in disbelief”, Roberts said. The long-haired flame thrower struck out six and had two home runs off Kenta Maeda as he was responsible for all of the Mets’ runs. Utley came into the game as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and remained in at second base. He departed at 95 pitches.

Jeurys Familia allowed a run in the ninth, but still earned his MLB-leading 12 save of the season. Mets INF Neil Walker was out of the lineup for the third consecutive game due to a badly bruised left shin that he sustained Saturday in San Diego.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Mets left-hander Steven Matz will miss his next turn in the rotation Saturday at Colorado because his elbow has flared up.
