Mets will have a scout at Tim Tebow’s workout

There are 20 teams that will be represented in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The general manager of Aguilas (Luis Amaro, brother of Ruben Amaro Jr.) describes the decision to offer Tebow as, “low risk, high reward”, which seems pretty accurate, because if for nothing else, the acquisition of Tebow would draw vast attention to the team.

“At the risk of sounding like half of America, I am thrilled we”™re just two days away from Tim Tebow”™s grand return. Tebow, 29, has spent the year preparing to play baseball after almost a dozen-year layoff.

Aguilas has won the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League five times, so they are not even a joke of a team looking to do this as a publicity stunt, unlike the independent league team that offered the former QB a deal.

GM Sandy Alderson recently intimated that their interest in Tebow was close to non-existent, so it’s likely that they’re simply sending a scout there for due diligence. Venezuelan teams can have nine non-Venezuelan players on their rosters.

MORE: What if Tebow really has a future in baseball? “If he signs with us and plays with us and is helping our ballclub, we’d love to have him around for the whole winter”. During the initial games in October, the league is made up mostly of minor leaguers. “Not that I have any room to make fun because I”™m milking this for all it”™s worth. I find this who story to be odd that Tebow is somehow figuring that a Major League team is going to over him a contract. They could be at the team’s spring-training complex. The early part of the winter season tends to feature more minor league players compared the mid and later part of the winter season when MLB players start trickling into the league.
