Meanwhile, police on Sunday arrested six men in connection with the murders of Domingo Lopez Gonzalez, mayor of San Juan Chamula, two town officials, a municipal government driver and a resident. Both men were mayors of towns in Mexico.

Over the weekend, different cities in Mexico were subject to gun violence and two Mexican mayors including a vice mayor were shot to death.
Ambrosio Soto Duarte was killed in a small town in Guerrero known to be one of the country’s most violent drug traffic pathways.
Mayors in Mexico have demanded they be given extra protection after two of their number were killed in separate incidents on Saturday.
“The implementation of a protocol of protection for mayors at risk is urgent”, the group’s statement said.
“It’s time to act, Mr President @EPN”, he said addressing Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.
The state line between Guerrero and Michoacan, along the Mexican Pacific coast, is part of a region known as “Tierra Caliente” (Hot Land), a nickname that was once a reference to the climate but now has become almost synonymous with drug-related violence.
Guerrero state spokesman Roberto Alvarez said gunmen blocked a highway with pickup trucks near the borderline in Michoacan, and then proceeded to open fire on Soto’s vehicle. “Tierra Caliente needs you”, the tweet said.
The mayor died in the shootout that followed, as did a suspect. Two federal police officers that were providing security to Soto were seriously injured in the attack, information released by Guerrero’s law enforcement officials revealed.
Gunmen opened fire on the mayor during a multi-day protest in the central square of San Juan Chamula on Saturday.
In addition to Lopez Gonzalez, four others were shot and killed, including the city’s vice mayor. Dozens of people were also wounded and taken to hospitals.
