Mexico’s Pena Nieto replaces finance minister after Trump visit
The visit was highly criticized by Mexicans, with many saying that it was a betrayal and a humiliation to the country to have Trump there.

Meade, 47, served as Finance Minister for Pena Nieto’s predecessor Felipe Calderon and began Pena Nieto’s presidency as Mexico’s foreign minister.
Mexico Finance Minister Luis Videgaray, one of Enrique Pena Nieto’s closest advisers for more than a decade, is leaving the government in a Cabinet shakeup after the president’s popularity fell to a record low and public backlash after a meeting with Donald Trump.
Peña Nieto was thrashed in Mexican media for reportedly letting Trump walk all over him in their press conference after a closed-door meeting.
Treasury ministry spokeswoman Claudia Algorri said that Mr Videgaray presented his resignation to Mr Pena Nieto today.
The wall proposal has been criticised widely and fiercely in Mexico.
Analysts said the peso was little moved by the news, since Meade, a former finance minister, is seen by investors as a technocrat committed to reining in the country’s debt.
The fiery reaction to Trump’s visit increased pressure on Pena Nieto to make changes.
The two politicians have since sparred over whether they discussed who would pay for the proposed border wall, with Trump insisting it was never mentioned and Peña Nieto claiming he told Trump Mexico would never fund it.
Videgaray, 48, has worked for President Enrique Pena Nieto since the president first became a governor in the State of Mexico in 2005.

Pena Nieto came under fire for not responding to Trump’s mention of the wall during a joint news conference on August 31, something he has since sought to correct. Mexicans were furious that their president didn’t ask Trump to apologize for calling migrants rapists and drug dealers. He also helped coordinate the campaign team for Peña Nieto’s presidential bid in 2012. This includes the preparation of derivative works of, or the incorporation of such content into other works.
