Meyer Pleased With Recruiting Class

This is a bit of a formality since Jonathan has been enrolled at Ohio State since January 11th.

In addition to a total of nine underclassmen going to the pros, the Buckeyes are losing seniors like offensive tackle Taylor Decker, linebacker Joshua Perry, defensive lineman Adolphus Washington, tight end Nick Vannett and receiver Braxton Miller. He still has a semester of school left, however, meaning he won’t be in Columbus for spring practice.

Ohio State has one quality win, but with each Kentucky loss, it’s becoming less of a big deal that it beat a team that was once No. 4 in the country. He finished the season with five catches for 62 yards.

For all the official visits that students make and flattering letters that coach Urban Meyer writes, Ohio State’s best advertisement, according to Josh Helmholdt, a Midwest recruiting analyst for Rivals.com, was last year’s national championship.

Wisconsin only has the away series against Ohio State, a home series against Minnesota State and then it hits the road against Minnesota before the regular season wraps up.

More than anything, the Buckeyes’ class ranking will be determined by the eleventh-hour decisions of blue-chip prospects headed elsewhere. As you can imagine, Meyer did not have much to say about that idea. The Buckeyes were third nationally, while the Wolverines were ranked fifth.

Numerous schools that recruited him gave him an option to choose what position he’d like to play, but he said it meant a lot to him that coach Urban Meyer pursued him strictly as a defensive player after Fuller made his wishes clear.

TeamRankings expects the Big Ten to get six teams into the field: Iowa, Michigan State, Maryland, Purdue, Indiana and Michigan.

But, as usual, there was probably no bigger inferno on Signing Day in the Big Ten than Meyer’s own incoming class. OSU’s Ice Rink is smaller than the common dimensions of college hockey rinks, such as LaBahn, and Johnson said it will take the team a little bit to adjust to the different style.

“We’re going to go in there and recruit the very best players in that state”.

Ohio State also made a rare reach into the junior college ranks to get Malcolm Pridgeon, 6-foot, 8-inch, 325-pound offensive tackle from Nassau (N.Y.) Community College. And with so many vacant spots in the starting lineup and at key reserve spots – before the 2016 class has even completely arrived on campus – Ohio State is counting on a considerable group to contribute as it tries to get the program back to the College Football Playoff.

Parris Campbell, Curtis Samuel and Dontre Wilson will also factor into the passing game, Meyer said on 97.1 (WBNS-FM). “He has some work to do in the classroom yet”.
