Authorities say the homicide and fire were related to a felony assault investigation by Midland police.

According to KBJR, the Carlton County Sheriff’s office arrested Gregory Rose, 46, just after 8 a.m. Monday after a hard chase through rural portions of the county.
Sheriff’s investigators say the truck was stolen from St. Croix County, Wis., and was owned by the Corps of Engineers.
Authorities have released the name of a woman found dead following a MI house fire and say they’re awaiting the return of a suspect in her death from Minnesota. But when the trooper flipped on his lights, Rose sped off, driving on the wrong side of the road and leading officers from multiple agencies on a chase along county and township roads, as well as a bike trail.
Rose was driving a US government pickup truck at the time of the incident that he allegedly stole sometime over the weekend. The pursuit finally came to an end near the 4000 block of County Highway 4 west of Mahtowa and Rose was taken into custody without injury.
MI prison records show Rose served 28 years in a MI prison for armed robbery and criminal sexual assault in Muskegon County.
When Rose left the burning home on Castor Road, in Midland County’s Greendale Township, it was in a 2004 Ford Escape registered to the homicide victim, according to a police press release.

Rose is expected to face charges in both MI and Minnesota. Sheriff’s deputies continue to work closely with authorities in MI and Wisconsin.
