The Rhodes Trust announced the recipients Sunday and said Sarah B. Kovan will pursue a master’s of philosophy degree in development studies at Oxford University in England.

A University of Wisconsin-Madison student has been selected as a Rhodes Scholar.
Jackson has also been a leader in community services relating to local refugees in Kentucky, low-income housing and employment, tutoring and mentoring.
They were chosen from among 869 applicants at 316 colleges and universities throughout the country, and are the 44th and 45th students in Duke’s history to receive a Rhodes Scholarship.
Wheeler credited the impetus for her application to history Professor Robert McElvaine.
Famous Rhodes Scholars include U.S. Senator Cory Booker, Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal and news anchor Rachel Maddow.
Nationally, each of 16 districts can name two scholars, for a total of 32 per year. In addition to economics, Ding is also studying political science and Chinese at the University of Iowa.
Michalove has focused her undergraduate research on the Middle East with an emphasis on women.
Hyland said two winners were selected from among the 12. “So in that sense she represents the finest Emory students and will make a splendid ambassador for the United States and for Emory at Oxford University”.

Captain of her intramural rowing team, she plans to do a master’s degree in scholastic theology at Oxford.
