Miami Dolphins: Defensive players of the week

-Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson drove the Seahawks 75 yards on 14 plays on their final possession, converting two fourth downs in the process for the game-winning 2-yard touchdown reception to wide receiver Doug Baldwin with 31 seconds left. Reports surfaced Monday that Wilson’s status for Week 2 was questionable, however, a social media post from the quarterback indicated he’ll be on the field Sunday.

It will be a huge blow for the ‘Hawks if it turns out that Wilson can’t play against the Rams because the only other QB on the team is rookie Trevone Boykin. He nearly got the chance on Sunday, but Wilson stayed in the game per usual (he’s never missed a game in his four complete National Football League seasons). Appearing on KIRO-AM Radio in Seattle on Monday morning, Carroll said X-rays and MRI tests on Wilson came back “fine”. Wilson’s 68.1 percent completion rate, 4,024 passing yards and 34 passing touchdowns were all career highs.

Players on the Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and New England Patriots demonstrated during the national anthems at their respective games on Sunday.

Carroll also said he thought Wilson enjoyed succeeding after injury. “It doesn’t matter what it is”, Carroll said.

Another fourth quarter comeback for Russell Wilson. The biggest reason for their success is a defensive front that sacked Russell Wilson 10 times in two games last season.

With Wilson having his reps in practice this week closely monitored, Carroll said the Seahawks may bring in another quarterback.

Jones played a lot of snaps from the edge on Sunday and not only did he fail to get pressure on Russel Wilson, he didn’t register so much as a single tackle assist.

Mostly a victor because of all the stuff going on around him, Carroo did his job perfectly on Sunday.

“I think he liked that he got banged a little”, he said. We have to take into account that it is going to be hard.

“In that moment, I’m thinking ‘what is he doing?’ but he has shown the propensity to do miraculous things and that play was no different”.

For the remainder of the game, Wilson was noticeably less mobile.

Carroll confirmed that the team is discussing the possibility of adding a veteran quarterback.

Rawls was playing his first real game since breaking his ankle in December and “came out great”, Carroll said. “However, when the plays count, we know how to finish”. The coach’s overall assessment of the offense in the opener: “We had some issues”.
