According to a report, the Dolphins will announce that their newly renovated home will be known as Hard Rock Stadium. It will also play host to the Orange Bowl Classic and Super Bowl 54 in 2020.

The stadium had been temporarily titled New Miami Stadium.

Slater said an official announcement is expected to be made Wednesday. Patent and Trademark Office show Orlando-based Hard Rock International Inc. applied to trademark the name “Hard Rock Stadium” on June 8.

Since its 1987 opening, this stadium has been called Dolphin Stadium, Joe Robbie Stadium, Dolphins Stadium, Pro Player Park, Pro Player Stadium, Landshark Stadium, and Sun Life Stadium. In typical Hard Rock Café fashion, their signature guitar logo will be fixed atop the stadium and Dolphin fans should quickly get used to seeing the famous guitar throughout the home stadium. The University of Miami will first play in the stadium on September 3 while the Dolphin’s home opener will take place on September 25 when they battle the Cleveland Browns.

Since the naming rights owned by Sun Life Financial expired earlier this year, the building has gone by the generic name “New Miami Stadium”.
