Sophomore linebacker Marques Gayot suffered a scary neck injury during the Miami Hurricanes’ practice on Wednesday, but it appears he avoided any significant long-term effects. Gayot will wear a neck collar as he recovers and no timetable for his return to football-related activity was announced, nor were the specifics of the injury.
He underwent a battery of tests and according to a statement issued by Miami on Thursday afternoon, was released from the hospital in the morning.
Head Coach Al Golden was scheduled to talk during an ACC teleconference at 11:50, but did not participate in the call.
The Canes’ next game is a road visit to Cincinnati on October 1st, followed by a trip to Doak Campbell Stadium to face rival Florida State on October 10th.
