Miami Heat Target Jamal Crawford

“Crawford is a 6’5” shooting guard who was named sixth man of the year twice and he is also NBA’s all-time leader in four point plays converted.

According to Terry Pluto of the Plain Dealer, the Cavaliers are kicking around the idea of trading Brendan Haywood to the Clippers for Jamal Crawford.

It seems as if Jamal Crawford has been on the trading block for the last two seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Unfortunately for the Clippers, Crawford is no longer an efficient scorer and to go deep into the playoffs they needed flawless play from their top bench guy. Considering how little they would be giving up to get Crawford, receiving him in a trade would be a fantastic addition.

This comes on the heels of a report that stated the Clippers were shopping Crawford ahead of the National Basketball Association draft, potentially fishing for a first-round pick that – evidently – never came.

The Cleveland Cavaliers need to find a place to send Brendan Haywood, and Los Angeles might be the destination in exchange for Jamal Crawford.

With no indication that J.R. Smith will be returning next season, Crawford would be a scoring presence off the bench with the offensive prowess that can win games for the Cavaliers. He’s also younger, a better defender and rebounder. As the free agent dust continues to settle, it’s appearing more and more likely that the team who lands Haywood might be doing so with the intentions of heavily using him. Role players like Chris Andersen and Mario Chalmers appear to be the names being floated around and that should not entice the Clippers one bit.

“I’m 100 percent healthy, motivated and ready for next year”, Crawford said.

He just doesn’t scream “Cleveland” – and I’m not sure he would oppose that opinion. After averaging almost 16 points per game last season, the Seattle native has plenty left in the tank.
