Michael Bennett again displeased with contract situation
Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett believes he is underpaid and would like a new deal.

The Michael Bennett saga in Seattle has reached its boiling point and it may be time for the Pro Bowler to change addresses once again.
The Seattle Seahawks opens their training camp on July 30th, and the question is whether DE Michael Bennett will show up.
Bennett considered holding out of training camp past year, but opted to report while strong safety Kam Chancellor sat out training camp, the preseason and the first two games of regular season in hopes of a new deal for himself.
Mostly, though, Bennett just seems sick of big contracts going to other players.
Michael Bennett’s matter as a valuable piece of the Seattle Seahawks ‘defense has been examined and laid out before, and so has the professional American football team’s stance on restructuring contracts.
According to OverTheCap.com, there are 37 defensive linemen with more guaranteed money in their deals, and by The Huffington Post’s count, Bennett is the 27th highest-paid player at his position in the league.
“It is never-ending. Especially when people are getting new contracts every day”. But that downplays his role in a Seahawks scheme that asks the 30-year-old former undrafted free agent to line up inside and outside.
“I just want to be fairly compensated with the top guys in the league”, Bennett told The Huffington Post.
It sounded like the Seahawks might be willing to break precedent.
And Seahawks coach Pete Carroll sees Bennett’s side of the story. “He’s not wrong. He’s right (to be frustrated)”.

While the Seahawks have just $8.5 million remaining in salary cap space for the 2016 season, that’s not thought to be an issue here as an extension could be worked out in a way to still fit under that number (Bennett has a cap hit of $7 million for this season as is).
