Michael Bisping makes the most of his UFC title shot

Weidman’s absence allowed Bisping to fight for a UFC title after 10 years and 25 bouts in the promotion.

Michael Bisping became the first British UFC champion last night when he stunned Luke Rockhold with a first round knockout to win the middleweight championship.

If you are a UFC fan, you should definitely not miss any UFC 199 live stream which will showcase some excellent MMA bouts from the world’s best fighters.

The 37-year-old UFC veteran was submitted by Rockhold in the second round at UFC Fight Night 55, coming up short as a +300 underdog, but has emerged victorious in his last three ahead of Saturday’s Bisping vs. Rockhold matchup at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

With the win, Bisping moves to 30-7.

The circumstances aren’t ideal, and not many people outside his camp expect him to claim Rockhold’s belt. Bisping said Rockhold chose wrong.

“He caught me”, Rockhold (15-3) said in the octagon following his defeat.

Few gave Bisping much chance and not just because of his two-week preparation time.

He has lost just one nontitle fight in his career and was the WEC champion when that organization boasted the best bantamweight class in the world, but hasn’t been able to win the UFC belt.

Bisping abruptly knocked down Rockhold midway through the round with a left hand to the jaw of the back-pedalling champion.

For most of his time as a contender, Anderson Silva was the champion and Bisping was focused on getting a fight against him. “I see a devastating knockout and it’s just a matter of what I’m going to knock him out with”.

When Michael Bisping offers his hand, you shake it.

“Look, Bisping’s a di*k, but he’s a warrior, he’s tough, and he’s going to hang in there”, Rockhold said. “It’s very, very free mentally”. “I’ve done it before, but I try not to let it go that way, but sometimes it happens like that”. I have no pressure. “I have always been a figher and never stopped believing in myself”. I don’t think he has anything to prove except to himself. He landed a handful of leg kicks and elevated one toward the head, which Bisping blocked and smiled at. Souza couldn’t take the fight due to a knee injury anyway, but Rockhold made it clear that he wanted a rematch with Bisping.

Bisping was unquestionably overjoyed after the match, putting this accomplishment near the top of his list.
