Michael Brown Sr. appeals for peace
On the eve of the anniversary of throughout a confrontation with a police officer, Brown’s father stated Saturday that the household continues to be mourning the 18-year-old’s demise. This protest happened in December.

During Saturday’s march, Missouri state troopers handed out water bottles to protesters, and police helped keep lanes of West Florissant clear for the marchers.
But unlike last summer, when police responded to even peaceful protests with batons, tear gas and rubber bullets in the aftermath of rioting and arson that tore apart the St. Louis suburb of 21,000 people, this time officers watched quietly but did not respond.
Brown’s father said a lot of families in the St. Louis area and across the nation are hurting because they’ve lost loved ones to police violence.
Brown and his closest supporters wore t-shirts bearing a print of a widely circulated photograph of his son wearing high school graduation robes.

The shirts also featured the slogan “chosen for change”, which is also the name of a nonprofit foundation established by Brown in his son’s memory that aims to “empower youth and strengthen families”. “But I’m still trying to get through”.
