Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba make the James Bond ‘shortlist’
The oft-rumoured Idris Elba (“Luther”, “Pacific Rim”) is on the list, as is Michael Fassbender (“Prometheus”), Charlie Hunnam (“Pacific Rim”), Aidan Turner (“The Hobbit”) and “Thor” alum Tom Hiddleston, whose name has popped up a few times in relations to the role in recent times.

A source at the movie company revealed: “To get anyone to take over from Daniel will be a tough job”. There will be a lot of trepidation about a new Bond, but Idris’ talent and proven appeal gives executives a lot of heart. The favourite for the role is Idris Elba, though he is the oldest of the candidates under the spotlight.
Poldark star Aiden Turner is now the Bond to beat, after Tom Hiddleston’s rise to fame in the U.S. allegedly lost him his chance as the legendary superspy.
However despite the above five being on MGM’s shortlist, it is ultimately Barbara Broccoli, head of Eon Productions, who will have the final say, and she has also reportedly been meeting with Jamie Bell and James Norton.
Despite some questionable film roles (remember Jumper, anyone?) Bell has seen his star slowly rise since he was catapulted to fame at 13 when chosen to play Billy Elliot.
Despite the fact there’s been no official word on whether Daniel Craig is retiring his license to kill following last year’s Spectre, sites have been going insane with speculation as to who could be the next actor to take over as Ian Fleming’s 007. Once Barbara decides who she wants to direct, then the audition process will be vital’.

A source told the Mirror: “Barbara has told those around her how impressed she was with Tom in The Game”.
