Kidd-Gilchrist missed the rest of the game and was sent to an Orlando hospital in the second half for an X-ray and further evaluation.
Gilchrist was curling off a screen late in the second quarter when he tumbled to the ground after drawing a foul.
MKG signed a four-year, $52 million extension in August.
Charlotte’s last time out: The Hornets fell to the Toronto Raptors, 92-87 in the final game of their 2014/15 campaign. He was immediately helped to the locker room.
He doesn’t have much of a jump shot, which makes it even more impressive that Kidd-Gilchrist has seen as much success offensively in the league as he’s had. Kidd-Gilchrist was mentioned as a possible Defensive Player of the Year candidate last season. Charlotte rookie Frank Kaminsky had seven points and four rebounds.
Kidd-Gilchrist has seen his time on the court dwindle over the first three seasons of his career.
Orlando Magic forward Mario Hezonja (23) dribbles by Charlotte Hornets guard Jeremy Lamb (3) during the first half of an NBA basketball game in Orlando, Fla., Saturday, October 3, 2015. He finished with 13 points and a game-high eight assists with just one turnover. That could happen as soon as Sunday night at Miami or in the Hornets’ two upcoming games in China against the Los Angeles Clippers.
