Michael Moore’s Anti-Trump Campaign: “‘We Are All Muslim”
Moore’s comments come on the heels of Trump’s campaign promise that his presidency would stop Muslims from entering the USA, a stance that he reinforced this week at the GOP debate. I was struck by how you, a self-described tough guy from Queens, seemed like such a fraidey-cat.

He said that he was raised to believe in equality of people as brothers and sisters, regardless of race, colour and religion. “In other words, not you” or “the people who want you leading their country”. He went on to criticise Trump on his ban-on-Muslims statement. As Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, R-Wis., put it, “It’s not what this country stands for”.
The think-tank, Tawazun India, also signed a petition addressed to US Ambassador to India Richard Varma, opposing the Republican candidate’s entry to India.
Trump’s continued success may not be surprising.
“You don’t see those kind of acts of violence or extremism from most of the Muslims, ‘ Hussain said”.
“We are all Muslim”, he wrote.
In addition to individual complaints of harassment, threats, and violence, the backlash includes vandalism of mosques: a severed pig’s head was left outside a mosque in Philadelphia, an Islamic center in Florida was defaced, and a Texas mosque was vandalized with feces and torn pages of the Quran. “Our people are fearful, they are anxious on a number of levels”.
What do you think of Michael Moore’s letter to Trump? “Even if an attack isn’t against you today, in time attacks on freedom for anyone will hurt everyone”. The phenomenon has been in vogue in India, Israel, European countries and elsewhere where Muslims are a minority and considered a threat to job market, controlled by the “majority” bosses.
So far, it does not appear that Trump has responded to Moore’s missive. That boogeyman, in your mind, are all Muslims.
Moore ended his letter with a call for readers to sign a “We Are All Muslim” letter (found on his website) and then post a photo of themselves on social media sites with a sign and a similar hashtag declaration. I will post all the photos on my site and send them to you, Mr. Trump.

He calls on the billionaire businessman to “leave the rest of us alone so we can elect a real president who is both compassionate and strong – at least strong enough not to be all whiny and scared of some guy in a ballcap from MI sitting next to him on a talk show couch. We are all children of God (or nature or whatever you believe in), part of the human family, and nothing you say or do can change that fact one iota”.
