Michael Moore’s Open Letter To Donald Trump Goes Viral
For his part, Trump has defended his proposal to bar Muslims from stepping on US soil.

Donald Trump had pushed the proposal which was rebuked by many individuals and groups all over the world, including the Senate Judiciary Committee who said that blocking entry to the United States based on one’s religion is against the principles that America stands for.
In his letter, which he posted on his Facebook page, Moore said Trump’s anti-Muslim statements were made in depression and insanity. “I’ve gotten so many threats, racist letters, telling me to ‘go back to my country and eat rice.’ People like Donald Trump, who preach hate, are very American … and I’m somehow un-American?”
“Pick on” you? I thought, where are we, in 3rd grade?
“I was struck by how you, a self-described tough guy from Queens, seemed like such a fraidey-cat”, Moore writes.
Presidential candidate Donald Trump’s call for a “total and complete shutdown” of Muslim immigration into the United States received a symbolic but stern admonishment Wednesday from the Portland City Council.
In his letter, Moore, who recently offered his MI apartment to Syrian refugees before inviting his fans to open their own homes, claimed he and Trump met on a talk show in 1998 and the billionaire businessman had asked him not to “go after” him.
As Michael Moore travels the country arranging invite-only screenings of his upcoming documentary “Where To Invade Next”, a satirical look at what the USA can learn from policies in other countries, the outspoken director is also finding time to take jabs at the Republican Party. “We are all children of God (or nature or whatever you believe in), part of the human family, and nothing you say or do can change that fact one iota”.
“…just before going on, I was pulled aside by a producer from the show who said that you were “nervous” about being on the set with me”. Nothing untoward happened between us. I was raised to believe that we are all each other’s brother and sister, regardless of race, creed or colour. “And not the people who want you leading their country”. “What a wuss”, was all I remember thinking as I left the set.
Moore ended his missive with a call for readers to sign a “We Are All Muslim” letter (found on his website) and then post a photo of themselves on social media sites with a sign and a similar hashtag declaration.
“We’re talking about security”.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment, and the candidate has not tweeted about Moore or the incident at Trump Tower.
