Michael Moore urges revolt, not bottles of water, for hometown Flint
But at a press conference this week, Snyder said removing the pipes is not part of the “short-term” plan.

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, a Republican, has estimated the cost of replacing Flint’s water supply infrastructure at $767.4 million, Democrats said.
Prysby, who had been forwarded an email from other state officials asking whether he would know more about the safety of Flint’s drinking water by March 1, forwarded the email to Stephen Busch, the district supervisor, who on January 22 of this year was suspended without pay for his role in the drinking water catastrophe. Grayling Stefek, 5, has his blood drawn during a free lead testing event and family fun night for children on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at Eisenhower Elementary school in Flint, Mich. Free water filters…
Democrats in the U.S. Senate were preparing to unveil legislation as early as Thursday aimed at aiding Flint, but would not provide details.
Non-government residents of Flint, on the other hand, were left to consume toxic water for an additional year.
Snyder is asking for $3 million in state funds for water bills. Mooney uses issues with lead in Flint’s water to draw attention to a new study about air pollution and poor communities which he says “adds to a body of evidence showing that the USA continues to struggle when it comes to ‘environmental justice'”.
At that the same time, residents in Flint were reporting brownish water flowing from their taps, but state officials had not yet confirmed the water was contaminated with lead.
News correspondent Stephanie Gosk repeatedly pressed the embattled governor Wednesday on how he expects to win the trust of Flint’s residents while the pipes that poisoned the water supply are still being used. They include cognitive problems which make it harder to learn and social difficulties.
Snyder has repeatedly apologized for the delay in addressing Flint’s problems, which have led some critics to call for his censure or arrest. Father Pfleger is outraged that the people especially the children are exposed to lead poisoning because of the inaction of both city and MI state officials.
Rick Snyder appointed little dictators in Michigan who never had to be accountable to Michigan voters – and so, they didn’t consider – or they didn’t care – how the people of Michigan would be harmed by their decisions.
Private wells are more likely sources of unsafe levels of lead compared with public water systems such as the one now under scrutiny in Flint, Swistock said. The more corrosive Flint water caused lead to leach from pipes into the water going into residents’ homes and businesses.
“This is about the people of Flint”, Allen said.

“They are telling us 15 years before it’s fixed”, said Bernadette McDonald. Here’s an wish list of filtering devices from Salem Lutheran Church which you can send directly to Flint residents and help rebuild their future. The measure also would require the Environmental Protection Agency to alert the public if there is a danger from lead in the water system, if the state refuses to act. “I’ll tell you what, if the kids in a rich suburb of Detroit had been drinking contaminated water and being bathed in it, there would have been action”.
