Michael Phelps insists he’s not competing in 2020 Tokyo Olympics
Lochte, 32, told the Today show’s Matt Lauer on Friday that he’s positive Phelps will swim for the gold once again at the 2020 summer Olympics in Tokyo.

You want truly unpredictable when it comes to Michael Phelps?
On Saturday afternoon (NZ time), Joseph Schooling will aim to beat the greatest Olympian in history in the final of the men’s 100m butterfly at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Schooling paid tribute to Phelps as the idol whose inspiration set him on course to become Singapore’s first gold medallist in any sport.
The 31-year-old Phelps still has a chance to leave Rio with 23 golds in his career. “This kid just won a gold medal, guys”. “I just don’t know if he can just stop”, his mother Debbie Phelps said in an NBC interview.
Watched by his mother and president Tony Tan in the stands, the 21-year-old beat Phelps, South Africa’s Chad Le Clos and Hungary’s Laszlo Cseh in the 100 metres butterfly final on Friday, to grab the gold while the others completed a remarkable three-way dead-heat for silver.
THE SWAMP: In another embarrassment for the Maria Lenk Aquatics Center, a planned practice session had to be called off to give officials more time to clean the green-tinged water – a four-days-and-counting scenario that prompted American diver Abby Johnson to dub it “the Swamp”.
Phelps, who exacted crushing revenge on le Clos in Rio, held hands with Cseh and his bitter foe as the three men perched awkwardly together on the same step of the podium. I think with a different objective, he’s going to come back and push his limits.
However, Phelps responded at the Phillips 66 National Championships, where he clocked in a 100-meter butterfly of 50.45 seconds that bested his gold-medal-winning time at each Games, per the Associated Press’ Paul Newberry (via the Baltimore Sun).
He has won four golds and a silver in Rio so far, taking his tally to 22 golds, and is not finished completely yet even if Friday was his last individual race. “Joe is tough. Hats off to him, he swam a great race”.
