Michael Phelps was loving Jimmy Fallon’s Ryan Lochte impersonation

With the Olympics in Rio just coming to an end, without question there are few stories in the world right now that are more well-known than U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte fabricating a story about getting robbed. Fallon’s impression was predictably centered around Lochte’s recent Olympic scandal, where the swimmer claimed to have been robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro until security camera footage and testimony proved him wrong.

“In fact, I directed all five nominees for video of the year”, Fallon’s Lochte continued.

Fallon’s impersonation of Lochte clearly entertained those packing NYC’s Madison Square Garden, including the athlete’s teammate Michael Phelps who was seen grinning as he immediately took out his phone to record the whole thing. “I taught Drake the “Hotline Bling” dance”.

“What an wonderful year I’ve had, it’s true”.

“I made Lemonade with Beyonce”. “They’re all so great and so talented, I couldn’t choose. Anyway, who had the best video of the year, I can’t tell you that”, he concluded before he eventually revealed that Bey won the coveted Moonman.

Decked out in a Nike track suit, Olympic medal, and blue hair, the comedian addressed how hard it was to pick a victor by admitting that he couldn’t choose “even if there was a gun to my head.which there isn’t”. However, thanks to Jimmy Fallon, his presence was very much felt. It was a clear dig at Olympic swimmer Lochte, whose tall tale about being robbed in Rio created an worldwide incident earlier this month. “I feel bad that I have let people down”.
