Michael Strahan tells Chelsea Handler he doesn’t miss ‘Live’

The publication reports that Kelly Ripa’s former co-host was feeling burnt out from filming the syndicated talk show, now titled “Live!”. The “Live With Kelly” show airs on weekday mornings while the NASCAR races and Gordon’s work with Fox occurs mostly on the weekends. He announced mere weeks before his exit that he was taking an opportunity with ABC’s Good Morning America, leading to various headlines sensationalizing Ripa being “blindsided” by the announcement.

“Well, I’m flattered that my name has been associated with that” position, he said Saturday at Sonoma Raceway, where he was working his weekend NASCAR broadcasting gig for Fox Sports. “I loved it. When you get a break, sometimes you kind of go, ‘Wow, I kind of needed it.’ I needed a break”, he said. Don’t get me wrong! Ripa threw a “fit” after hearing news of Strahan’s departure shortly before the rest of the world, insiders told the Daily News at the time.

“It’s bittersweet. Of course you get nervous”, Strahan said in his final show, discussing his goodbye.

‘I really haven’t had a chance to watch (the show),’ Strahan told Handler on an upcoming episode of her Netflix show Chelsea.

Not that he’s been doing that much relaxing.

In addition to his GMA duties, Strahan is the host of The 100,000 Pyramid.

Make sure to check out Michael’s full interview when Chelsea streams Friday, June 24 at 3 a.m. EST on Netflix!
