The news follows Ripa’s return to Live this morning, following last week’s dust-up in which she went MIA after being informed Strahan was heading to Good Morning America, less than half an hour before it was reported in the press.

At the time of the announcement, Strahan said he’d be joining GMA in September.
But Ripa returned to a standing ovation Tuesday morning, at which point she declared, “our long national nightmare is over”.
On Tuesday, April 19, the news broke that Michael Strahan would leave Live with Kelly and Michael to join Good Morning America.
Following a People report, ABC tells CNN the change was made after executives met with Ripa and Strahan as well as producers for both shows.
Ripa said the episode sparked an important discussion with her bosses over communication and “respect in the workplace”.
“In that time, I gained some perspective”, Ripa said of her absence. We are incredibly devoted to one another. On Thursday, amid her drama-filled absence from the show, she was spotted with a copy of David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants by Malcolm Gladwell.
Strahan also made nice, telling his co-host he was “so happy” she was back.
Except, not quite. Ripa’s cheerful Tuesday truce was hardly tearful – even remotely – and she also seemed less willing to cast herself in the role of victim.
Strahan was going to keep co-hosting through the summer.
Despite walking hand-in-hand in a reunion that was lauded by many fans, Young said she didn’t see the embattled cohosts interact before their big on screen moment.
Ripa has been the co-host of “Live!” for 12 years.
Disney-ABC Television Group president Ben Sherwood and his deputies had deliberated about when and how to tell Ripa, believing that she would be disappointed by the news no matter when she was told.
