She left South America on Friday night after posting a picture on Instagram prior to boarding her flight home.
Both girls claimed they were forced to be drug miles by South American gangsters, while their families at home believed they were working in a bar in Ibiza.
She arrived in Dublin Airport this evening..
McCollum was released on parole in March after serving less than half her six-year, eight-month sentence.
McCollum and Reid were locked up at Lima’s Virgen de Fatima jail before being moved to the notorious Ancon 2 prison, dubbed Hell’s Hacienda.
In an interview with RTÉ following her release on parole, McCollum described her decision to smuggle the drugs as “a moment of madness”. “I potentially could have filled Europe full of a lot of drugs”. I want to demonstrate that I’m a good person.
After leaving prison, McCollum told RTE she could have “potentially killed a lot of people”.
She was was allowed to apply for a return to Britain under a 2014 law created to reduce Peru’s prison population.
