Michail Antonio delighted to have scored first PL goal at London Stadium

“So if we are talking about creation from midfield, we will be more than all right with them, because nobody has got five players like them”.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic gestures during the club’s Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion in Upton Park, London November 29, 2015. I felt we were pushing to get the victor.

“There is no point in moaning, we know the situation”. We were pushing and wanted it more. The win moved West Ham, who lost their opening game at Chelsea, up to 10th on three points.

The margin of victory would have been more convincing had West Ham substitute Jonathan Calleri, who has just finished playing for Argentina at the Rio Olympics, not wastefully shot wide after being sent free on goal in added time.

Stuani put Aitor Karanka’s Boro ahead with a glorious 25-yard strike in the 13th minute at the Stadium of Light before finishing off a neat team move on the cusp of half-time.

The 26-year-old continued: “It’s always great to be in history and especially so as the goal won us the match”, and when talking about the build-up, Antonio concluded “It was a nice bit of play, the ball held up nicely for Gokhan and it was one of those that I’m always going to be there [at the far post].” .

“I told the players they would start at 150 percent, but with players of the quality of Cristhian Stuani we were able to score a first goal like that, which opened up the game”.

Speaking about Michail Antonio’s role in the win, he said: “He’s a fantastic player, he’s very versatile, he can even play striker and would probably make a good striker”.

“Are we going to try to get one [new signing]?”

“That kind of behaviour has no place in football and we will work with the police and other stakeholders to review the incidents and take action against anyone found guilty of violence, disorder, threatening behaviour, or abuse”.

Bilic was desperate for West Ham to get that first win under their belt as quickly as possible but u nfortunately for him the new era had begun with some all-too-familiar news, with perennially-injured Andy Carroll having been ruled out for up to six weeks with knee damage.
