Season 6 being the finale season of the entire series, Downton Abbey gives their fans a Christmas bonanza. Nobody regrets ending when we did.

In second place is the episode of Only Fools And Horses broadcast by BBC1 on Christmas Day 2001, which was watched by 21.34 million. We easily could have gone for a seventh season, but if I’d have said “We haven’t got Maggie” it would have been a shadow of itself.
He tells The Sun newspaper, “Production were checking our pockets (to make sure) that we weren’t stealing anything!”
Following the final episode on Friday, a special video from the cast and crew shows them filming the final moments on set, as they reflect on their time in the world of Downton.
The “Downton Abbey” special will air on Christmas Day, 8:45 P.M. on ITV. “The Christmas Special trailer shows him leaving Downton so we hope it’s for happier times”.
She admitted: “One of my favourite purchases is a fur-trimmed high-collared orange and green coat that Lady Edith [Laura Carmichael] wears when she first kisses Bertie Pelham [Harry Hadden-Patton] when she’s staying in Gregson’s apartment”.
When ITV announced the show would end after series six, Julian Fellowes said: “The Downton journey has been incredible for everyone aboard”.
The Corporation enjoyed a clean sweep of the five most-watched programmes on Christmas Day in 2014, with Mrs Brown’s Boys, Strictly Come Dancing, EastEnders and Doctor Who topping the list.

It was a relief more than anything to be honest, because after six series and something like 15 years, Lady Edith had become a poster girl for the terminally rejected. Some observers predicted that this year’s Christmas Day overnight audience figures would be among the lowest on record in the United Kingdom, with early Saturday commentary suggesting viewing could have hit its lowest point since 2009.

The programme averaged a massive 6.9 million viewers, when it aired on ITV at 8.45pm.
