PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Sorry, Democrats. “I love you, Michelle”.

First Lady Michelle Obama endorsed Hillary Clinton in a speech to the Democratic National Convention, telling the gathering that “this election isn’t about Democrat or Republican, it’s about who we trust with power to influence our children in the next four to eight years”. The best moment of Michelle Obama’s DNC speech was hard to pinpoint – because, let’s be honest, it was all pretty magical – but one part in particular caught the nation’s attention. Obama also praised Clinton for accepting a position in his cabinet after losing to President Obama in 2008.

Sarah Hurwitz, the First Lady’s longtime speechwriter, is a product of the Wayland academic system, as well as Harvard College and Harvard Law School. Three hours later, the paper tweeted: “Stop the Presses!” If this first lady, who manages to be both electrifying and relatable, pours all her passion into electing Hillary, Donald Trump better watch out. “@Flotus speech brings down the house”. She never takes the easy way out.

Hurwitz has cited her education in Wayland for much of her success. “No calls. No anything'”.

Throughout, Obama offered a positive case for her candidate that contrasted sharply with the “vote for Trump or else” tone of last week’s GOP convention. But there is little evidence of a close friendship.

As first lady, Clinton became a lightning rod with her push for universal health care against Republican opposition. She’s been a huge draw at fundraisers in elections past. “She blew me away”.

For example, Mrs. Obama took on Trump in a June commencement address at the City College of NY, denouncing leaders who engage in “name-calling” and “anger and intolerance”. In North Carolina, telling a rally of predominantly white people about his plans to bring back the great America they all think existed.

The words that resonated the most were about how she and President Barack Obama have had to teach their daughters not to listen to the hateful things people have said about their father’s citizenship and faith. “And because of Hillary Clinton, my daughters and all our sons and daughters now take for granted that a woman can be president of the United States”.

Then she did exactly what she has always done – she gave the country a model of the appropriate way to handle even the toughest situations, including a big bully like Trump. “Brothers and sisters. This is the real world that we live in”, Sanders told his supporters.
