Meanwhile, Peng’s opposite number, U.S. first lady Michelle Obama, wore a dress by Chinese-American designer Vera Wang. Everyone has fallen in love with her and she was practically the talk of the town, in a very positive way.

The two first ladies are expected to visit the National Zoo on Friday to look at the giant pandas.
Crystal Kayiza tweeted a photo of the first lady with the President.
“Michelle Obama is the best argument against term limits”, director Ava DuVernay tweeted along with four pics of Obama from the event. “And we will be watching carefully to make an assessment as to whether progress has been made in this area”, Obama said at Friday’s press conference. He said Beijing and Washington had a shared interest in this regard. Also significant, Alperovich said, is the fact that the Chinese have agreed to provide responses to U.S. government requests for investigations.
But the most touching praise that ended all praises came from the President himself. The President was captured looking at the first lady lovingly, and then he said: “May I just say, you look stunning”.

The 51-year-old First Lady wore a black, off-the-shoulder, cleavage-baring custom-made Vera Wang mermaid gown with a ruffled skirt and tulle straps. Fitted, with sheer sleeves, it skimmed the floor with its silk organza flounce. “The first lady’s look-hair gathered in that vintage sultry side sweep popular on red carpets and the form-fitting frock’s silhouette-hearkened back to old Hollywood glamour”, writes the Washington Post’s Helena Andrews-Dyer.
