The first lady also turned personal, her voice cracking at times, when she discussed the future at stake for her two daughters.
“As a true public servant, Hillary knows that this is so much bigger than her own desires and disappointments”.
Instead, she joined the Obama administration as his secretary of State. She could have decided that she was exhausted of being picked apart for how she looks or how she talks or even how she laughs… And on top of that, she became one of Donald Trump’s most scathing detractors. “Because when you have the nuclear codes at your fingertips and the military at your command, you can’t make snap decisions”.
“You can’t have a thin skin or tendency to lash out”.
She said children look to adults – and especially the president – to shape their values. She raised her own daughter Chelsea “to perfection”. The message was not lost after a day in which supporters of Bernie Sanders openly expressed their dismay at the party and booed at points when speakers mentioned unifying behind Clinton. Obama, however, received warmer treatment.
While Obama has often avoided overt politics during her almost eight years in the White House, her frustration with Trump’s rise was evident.
“And when I think of the kind of president I want for my girls. that’s why in this election, I’m for her”.
Obama told the electrified audience that “we are always stronger together”, saying she wants a president “who will teach our children that everyone in this country matters”. “But today I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves”, FLOTUS said while getting choked up.
“I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves and I watch my daughters – two lovely, intelligent young black women – playing with their dog on the White House lawn”, Obama said.

“Don’t let anyone tell you that America isn’t great”. “Make no mistake about it, this November when we go to the polls, that’s what we’re deciding”, she said. “Because this is the greatest country on Earth”.
