Michelle Obama slays ‘Carpool Karaoke’ with Missy Elliot

Fittingly titled Carpool Karaoke at the White House, Corden seize the best tour guide on the premises in the First Lady.

Obama isn’t the first celebrity to join Corden in the Carpool Karaoke segment of his show.

In between songs, Obama and Corden chat about Snapchat, life after the White House and Obama’s girls’ education initiative.

“I rarely get to listen to music in the vehicle”, Obama says to Corden in a clip released on Monday. She revealed during the segment that it was only the second time in the past seven and a half years that she had rocked out in the front seat of a vehicle. “So this is a treat”. “We’ve got our squad, our girl power squad”, Obama said. It’s official: we, the people have the most viral first lady ever.

The two were even joined by rap legend Missy Elliott halfway through to get the party even more fired up.

Now, lest you think Michelle Obama doesn’t have any songs of her own, that’s not entirely true.

In the comedy sketch, Corden acts like he’s was arriving at the White House for a tour and is asked to pull over by the Secret Service.

“It’s one thing when you’re watching on TV … but she’s so down to earth”, Elliott says of Obama. Corden asks. “Just calling down at 3 a.m., I want a grilled cheese and a milkshake?”

She bounced around to Beyoncé’s hit, “Single Ladies” next, (although we would’ve to have seen her perform Bey’s “Formation” for obvious reasons). “We just dropped the mic into the hive”, Obama agreed. The president’s wife noted that it’s been apparently seven and a half years since she had been in the passenger’s, rocking out to some good vibrations, and she is lovin’ it now.
