Michelle Obama unveils campaign focusing on girls’ education

Michelle popped up on stage to introduce a new initiative focusing on education for girls across the world, promoting the hashtag #62milliongirls, referring the 62 million girls now not in education.

Obama spoke about the 62 Million Girls campaign in front of a feverish audience in Central Park. “Let’s give it up for the awesome Beyoncé”, Obama said. The First Lady appeared on stage immediately following Beyoncé’s incredible high-energy performance and praised the grammy victor, saying she was, “honored to follow a woman who I admire and adore”.

“I see myself in these girls”.

In the video appearance, Obama asked supporters to post photos of themselves on Twitter and Instagram along with a message about what they learned in school using #62milliongirls.

“Giving [girls] that chance is at the core of our work to end global poverty”, said Obama. She said the photos will “show the power of education”. “It would be a weapon that is actually reach me located on the quit edge of my face, the new commer was a weapon that often success my friends, nonetheless it wasn’t a pen”.

“We have billions and trillions of dollars but where the money goes is the military, things that are useless to society”, she said.

The event, which aired on MSNBC, was hosted by Stephen Colbert, Kerry Washington, Salma Hayek Pinault, Olivia Wilde and other top celebrities.
