The deal includes use of the Jordan Brand “Jumpman” apparel and footwear for men’s and women’s basketball, UM said.

Michigan’s uniforms will have an all-too familiar addition starting in 2016 – the swoosh – after the school and NIKE reached a new agreement that reunites the athletic apparel company with the Wolverines.

Financial terms of the deal will not be made available until July 13, according to MLive.

The above gallery takes a stroll through some of the good and the bad of Michigan’s Adidas uniforms over the years. The M Den is the official retailer of Michigan Athletics and will be among the first retailers to feature the new apparel.

“After careful consideration, the right partner for the University of Michigan was NIKE”, Hackett wrote.

What Hackett said he learned through the process is “how extraordinary Michigan is” to all the apparel companies.

Michigan representatives visited Adidas North American offices in Portland recently, the location of football marketing and product design for the Germany- based sports footwear and apparel brand. The contract was worth $4.4 million in equipment and $3.8 million in cash. Fans have expressed over the years disappointment with adidas, particularly the custom-designed football uniforms used over the last few years for special games, like those against Notre Dame at Michigan Stadium.

There’s a caveat in the contract that says if Adidas extends a more lucrative contract to another college or university, “then Adidas agrees to make a written offer to grant (Michigan) that same more favorable” deal.”

Winners of 11 national titles in its 136-year history and with a shiny new head coach in Jim Harbaugh, the Wolverines are a cash cow.

He called this process “Project Swag” and described the project room with hundreds of pages of data.
