It was a big test, one the Wolverines passed with flying colors. “They just, you know, took it to us”. Overall, though, Michigan’s big three here is Darboh-Butt-Chesson. If the Big Ten champ is unbeaten, or finishes with one loss, it’ll be in the playoff.

My how far things have come.

The Cougars (2-2) were averaging 432 yards on offense. The pass game contributed absolutely nothing. You want to duplicate that in the second half, and that’s what we did. Michigan won 31-0.

For the defense, which has beaten itself down itself for allowing one touchdown drive each of the past two weeks, there was utter dominance in their first shutout since the Illinois game in 2012. All the tight ends were involved in the receiving game, and Jake Butt’s 41-yard reception was the longest Rudock has completed this season. No need to press, no turnovers. For BYU, it’s yet another test as part of a grueling early-season schedule.

“It feels good to finally beat a ranked team”, said Smith, whose team was 1-9 against ranked teams since the start of 2012. He ran for 3- and 17-yard scores on plays that were designed for passes. Offensively, Connor Cook has been okay, but hardly anything special. For the game, Michigan had the ball for 38:38. He only completed 19-of-33 passes, but it’s a building process. Neutering a 311-yards-per-game passing attack to just 55 yards. But coach Jim Harbaugh liked what he saw out of Rudock, saying, “He looked like he was having fun, and just slinging it out there”. Penn State W, San Diego State 37-21It doesn’t matter that San Diego State isn’t playing well, Christian Hackenberg threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns with no picks. From the looks of the pictures, BYU players were smiling and they looked like they were on vacation. For one week, the Penn State passing game didn’t suck.

Peck said he felt the Wolverines established what type of game it was going to be in the early going.

The Buckeyes (3-0) have won 17 straight. Rutgers W, Kansas 27-14Just survive and move on. A former four-star recruit, Mangum has shown why he got so much hype coming out of college.

Tanner Mangum has quite a few question marks surrounding his game, but has to be a top-notch game manager for the Cougars.

All the running backs had carries. Not hardly, said Jim Harbaugh, his khakis and 109,999 other people in the stands. “As the quarterback, I take that on me”. “We have respect at this point nationally, ” Cougars coach Bronco Mendenhall said. Now comes the Northwestern defense – good luck.

The defense is real, and it’s spectacular.

Running back De’Veon Smith matched his career high of 126 yards in the first half.

The touchdown to get U of M on the board was a quarterback keeper form Rudock for three yards. Michigan obliterated the Cougars with impunity from the jump.

“Yes, I expect to play next week”, Smith said. Wilson was 18-for-30 for 227 yards and four touchdowns in the air and added 100 yards and another TD on the ground. In the first quarter, he was just 1-of-6. Gedeon and James Ross got in the game late. Running back Adam Hine who had almost 150 yards last week against UCLA, was held to a team leading 33 yards against the Wolverines.
