The police report from Draymond Green’s Sunday morning arrest in East Lansing, Michigan, was released Wednesday and paints a more detailed picture of earlier reports of the Warriors forward slapping a football player.
Edmondson said bar employees tried to defuse the situation, but Edmondson “heard [his] girlfriend yell” and learned “she said she was choked by another one of the guys who were with Draymond”. Green apparently slapped a football player from his Alma Mater, Michigan State, in the face who was heckling him during a night out in Michigan.
Edmondson asked for his release from the team and was granted it, according to a statement released by Head Coach Mark Dantonio Wednesday night.
Green, whose blood alcohol level was 0.10 at the time, said he plans to “learn from” his arrest.
A few hours later, Edmondson had told police that someone came up to him and grabbed him by the throat.
Messages seeking comment were left for Green, an NBA All-Star who was selected to play basketball for the U.S.at the Olympics next month.
Green’s attorney requested a waiver of arraignment, meaning the 26-year-old will not have to be back in court on July 20. He could possibly be sentenced to a maximum 93 days in prison and a fine of $500.
“I walk over and I tell Draymond that last night wasn’t cool”, Edmondson said in an email to police.
Edmondson told police his run-in with Green began on Friday, July 8, inside of Rick’s American Café in East Lansing, where the two bumped into each other and exchanged words. The Golden State Warriors lost the NBA Championship to the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-3.

Green has since apologized for the incident, saying (via ESPN), “I just can’t put myself in certain situations”. Their opinion is important, it’s just not important to me.
