Michigan State Police cracking down on seat belt enforcement, drunken driving
Law enforcement officers from police departments, sheriff’s offices and the Michigan State Police will be on the lookout for impaired drivers and unbuckled motorists during the Labor Day holiday weekend, the unofficial end of summer. Six were alcohol-related. During that same period in the Post 1 District, there were no fatalities reported. Special detail will be paid to occupant protection (seat belt adherence), vehicle safety, insurance compliance and registration violations.

September is safe driving awareness month in Ohio and the Ohio State Highway Patrol is asking motorists to put down all those distractions! He said the additional officers will increase the visibility of law enforcement on the road.
“Troopers will be on concentrated and high-visibility patrols actively looking for impaired and unsafe drivers this holiday weekend”, said Col. Mark W. McDonough, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety.
OSHP has a few tips as you head out this labor day weekend.
The heaviest travel day of the weekend on the roads is expected to be Friday.
Operation C.A.R.E. began in 1977 as a collaborative effort between the Michigan State Police and the Indiana State Police and is one of the nation’s longest-running traffic safety initiatives. If you are caught driving impaired, you will be arrested.

Statewide, during the 2014 Labor Day holiday, there were 11 fatal collisions resulting in the deaths of 13 people on Kentucky roadways.
